Two men are in a teal dark enough to read as night. The nearer figure is clear of the water from the waist up, leaning out along a taut white line that he hauls towards the corner with both hands, and it leaves the frame still under tension. A small cross hangs at his throat. Behind him a second fisher watches, submerged to the shoulders, and faint shapes rise through mist further back. Comet trails cross the upper canvas. The sea is the one in the Odyssey and the sky above it belongs to retro science fiction, men working water under a heaven with traffic in it and a long way still to run. Along the bottom edge, beneath the surface, red bleeds into the teal where the catch would be. Azekwoh puts the pull inside the picture and keeps the return outside it, so the labour stands as an act of faith.
