- A collaboration with Chess in Slums Africa
The Grandmasters are two elders at the board. The teachers every player learns from, painted as they have always existed: patient, severe, unbeaten. She plays for the king, and the sacrifice arrives without warning. He is the python. He gives nothing, and takes the endgame.
The paintings were made with Tunde Onakoya, whose work with Chess in Slums Africa has spent years placing the sixty-four-square crown in hands that were told they could not reach it. Both artists sign both works. Proceeds from every sale go to Chess in Slums Africa.
These are not reproductions of anything. They are the source. One hundred signed prints of each work now circulate.
